Opening Day

  • The weekend is over, and that means the end of game ones in every NBA first round series. From my viewing, the only games I found to be good were the MAVS game, the sixers/magic game, and the bulls/celtics game. JJ Barea is the greatest thing the world doesn't know, Derrick Rose went beast mode, and Andre Iguodala is clutch.
  • Game 2 of the Mavs/Spurs series is tonight, and as much as I consider myself the eternal optimist, I don't see things being as pretty as they were in Game One. The Mavs looked just as good in Game One as they have all year, but some things will probably be a little different the second time around. First, Dirk wont be as quiet this game. Fortunately for the Mavs, Dirk did not have to be himself in Game One, the combo of Howard Bass and Barea was enough to carry the offensive load. Expect bigger things from the German tonight. Second, like Nowitzki, Tony Parker will be more effective tonight. As much as I would love for Parker's career to go down in flames with this series, I just don't see it happening. Finally, the Spurs will NOT shoot a magical 78% (11-14) from Deep. This time, Pop will come more prepared, and the Mavs will look to come home with a 2-0 lead, should be a good one. 9:30 ET, TNT.
  • In other news, ESPN reported today that Sheldon Brown has asked for a trade. Thank God. With Lito Sheppard and Dawkins gone, the exit of Brown would make the Eagles secondary look like it took a tranquilizer dart to the jugular. Let it fly Romo.
  • Mike Brown was awarded head coach of the year today. He needs to do the truthful thing and go ahead and hand that award over to LeBron.
More to come later on,
Peace

  1. Carlisle should start Barea in Game 2.

As mentioned during the final regular season games against the Rockets, Carlisle likes to insert Barea into the starting line up against smaller gaurds. Barea's defense against the French Faggot in game 1 was sensational with the 2 drawn charges (should have been 3). The double cannon wielding Brandon Bass had a great game(14 pts) and will undoubtebly bring the same energy and tenacity throughout the rest of the series. Finally, Dirk will awaken tonight and will not be held under 20 pts for the rest of the series. I Look for the mavs to play better perimeter defense tonight and continue to score in bunches.

P.S. Somebody please throw Singelton an oop

  2. Being a fan of both sides of this fence, I can easily say the spurs gave their utmost best in game 1 and will be shocked to find them put up the same numbers the rest of the series (as stated by wil). They looked younger than they had been all year and cannot continue this intensity, especially in the HOUSE THAT CUBAN BUILT!
