It's Been A Minute

It's been a while since I've done this, but I think it's like riding a bike--once you learn how, you never forget. I graduated from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas this past Saturday. The whole weekend went great, with my cousin being in town, and of course my family being there to help celebrate was awesome. Shout out to my mom for hooking me up with some nice suspenders, I was looking fly all day long Saturday. A lot of sports news has happened since last Wednesday, but I'm not even going to try to cover it all. I'm just gonna go off the dome and see what transpires, so let's put the past 4 years of school to work.
  • The Mavs are all but done after Saturday's debacle of a game. As I'm sure everyone knows, the game ended very awkwardly with the refs admitting that they blew the game and should have called a foul on Antoine Wright before 'Melo could get his game winning 3 pointer up and in. I saw a replay for the first time earlier today, and I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't agree with the refs saying the blew the game. Wright did a terrible job of selling the foul, he threw his hands in the air right after he slapped at the ball. If you are trying to foul intentionally, you make sure you foul and everyone, including the opponent, knows you are trying to foul. You make sure you do it to where 'Melo doesn't get a shot up and that it's hard enough to where there is no use of discretion by the official. I think the refs should have known that the Mavs were trying to foul and take that into account, but at the same time, Wright needs to do a better job of selling that foul and making sure it gets called. Cuban's remarks are a little outrageous, hands down he is the best Owner in the NBA, but this time I think he went a little overboard. You don't say anything to anyone's mom about their son, especially the hometown boy that is Kenyon Martin. If you don't know about that story, you might not want to. I'm sure K-Mart will take care of that little problem both on and off the court, he might have a couple of hard fouls up his sleeve tonight. Hopefully the Mavs can salvage one homecourt victory, but don't be surprised if the Nuggets close it out tonight.
  • Man what a roller coaster this LA-Houston series has been. With all the ejections and injuries, it's hard to think that they've only completed 4 games, and we're still right where we started with a 2-2 series tie going back to LA for game 5. The Rockets were very impressive coming out and manhandling the Lakers even without The Great Wall that is Yao Ming (out for the rest of the postseason with a broken foot). Aaron Brooks was superb scoring a playoff career-high 34 points, and also Shane Battier putting up 21. I look for the Lakers to win game 5 at home, and then after that I'm not really sure. It all depends on the Lakers, they are clearly the better team, it's just that for whatever reason they do not show up for games. It's like they need constant motivation. Let me remind you Lakers, you lost in the Finals last year, and on top of that, got completely demolished in the last game. Most confusing team in basketball, most talented also. Right now I see the Nuggets coming out of the West though, they are the toughest team in basketball right now.
  • The Cavs will take the Hawks out tonight. Sweep. Called it. Championship run.
  • I don't even want to reflect on the Boston-Orlando series. It's useless to talk about anyone in the East except the Cavs.
  • Brett Favre to the Vikings? Let's not even start this...
That wraps up everything I want to talk about. I know it's not everything in the sports world, but it's what I care the most about. Wilson is M.I.A., along with my lady. I'm out like a light.
