- The Mavs started their series with the red hot Denver Nuggets yesterday. I thought we came out very aggressive and poised, then I think we got a little too relaxed. Jason Kidd looked horrible, and honestly was the first time I've seen his age show on the court. He looked sloppy like he was just going through the motions, not precise and accurate like the #2 NBA career assist leader we've all come to know and love. The 20 TO's didn't help our cause, along with Damp and Josh getting hurt. They did not look good when they came back in the game; Damp looked intimidated and scared, so did Bass. In their defense, with Nene playing like he did yesterday why wouldn't they be? The Nuggs are a tough team to stop when they get going, in any way, shape, or form. Birdman coming off the bench is perfect for that team, he's a spark plug, especially on the defensive end, that compliments 6th Man Award runner up J.R. Smith very well. Those two off the bench really get Denver going, and both come in with a lot of energy and "balls to the wall" type of mentality. Look for the Mavs to come out strong in Game 2, I'm predicting another tough game, but Slick Rick is usually pretty good and making adjustments, so look for the Mavs to play better, crisper ball. 102-97 Mavs.
- Watching the Celtics-Magic series right now as I type. Boston looks tired, but they're a veteran team, I wouldn't be surprised either way this series goes. Orlando is quietly getting strong again, it looked dim for them down 2-1 to the Sixers, but then to run off 3 straight and win that series going away, the last without Superman Dwight Howard ("shoulders" to you Miss La) is very impressive. I guess I'm rooting for the Magic, nah maybe the Celtics. I don't know, who cares, the Cavs will win the East.
- Speaking of, big ups to my man LeBron. The Chosen One himself was named NBA MVP earlier today, and it is very much deserved. Besides Kobe, and even so arguably the best offensive player in the league (7 triple doubles on the year), and also being Defensive Player of the Year runner-up. We haven't seen the dominance on both sides of the court like this since...dare I say...MJ23? I'm not saying he's him, because he isn't, but he does wear 23 for a reason...They could sweep the Hawks, if not then it's done in 5.
- Lakers and Rockets could actually turn out to be a good series. I very much dislike both teams, but they actually match up well. With the Rockets being able to throw multiple worthy defenders at Kobe, and a frontcourt that is able to hang with the palm trees out in LA. It could go to 7, but I'm taking the Lakers in 6.
- My condolences (I don't know if that's spelled right) to the Dallas Cowboys organization. The roof of the practice facility collapsed during rookie camp this past week, paralyzing a scout for the Boys and injuring several others. The video footage was very scary to see. Thoughts and prayers go out to them.
- In boxing news, the British...female dog...that is Ricky Hatton got stomped by Manny Pac, with a 2nd round TKO. He made $12 million dollars for less than 5 minutes in the ring (Hatton made $8M). Floyd Mayweather is making a comeback also, fighting Manny's rival this summer, look for Money Mayweather to win that bout to set up a life saver match for boxing in early 2010.
That's all I got. Finished up my last spring semester today, so far have an A and 2 B's, and I thought I was going to get all C's, go figure. Shout out to my cuz, be good be safe, good to have you home and talk to you on a daily basis. That's all folks.
